Health Information Systems/Services strives to provide flexible, customer driven services that meet the many needs of all users of health information, as well as the behind the scene support services that keep our current electronic health record operational.

All of our services are centered on the following operating strategies:

EHR Training Overview

The Clinical Applications Training Team (CATT) of HIS/S designs, facilitates, and recommends various levels of health information training for all clinical departments and components throughout East Carolina University. We identify needs and competency levels according to clinical workflows, medical legal standards, and federal guidelines. Training consists of electronic medical record workflows (ECUP EHR), documentation standards, use and disclosure of health information, and other miscellaneous staff development enhancements. CATT also provides training consultation and assistance in planning educational activities to assist ECU’s learning needs to provide quality clinical workflows and health information for the University.

Clinical Applications Management Team – What Do We Do?

The CAM Team supports various technical components of the EHR including:

  • Nuance eScription (medical transcription) service
  • Nuance voice recognition (Dragon)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve interface issues with our external lab service vendors (Vidant, Quest Diagnostics, Lab Corp)
  • Troubleshoot and support ECU’s Lab Information System (CompuGroup LabDAQ)
  • Build/develop clinical data reports for ECU providers and staff
  • Test and support EHR upgrades and enhancements
  • Build and maintain ECU-specific EHR functionality
  • Support centralized document scanning services
